Summerlicious Crochet Coasters Pattern

Too many drink cups and glasses had me making bright summerlicious crochet coasters.

It was brought to my attention by my very responsive body that I wasn't drinking enough water or hydrating liquids. I would usually start my day with a glass of water before my two cups of wonderful, delicious coffee. And that was pretty much it until noon. In the afternoon I would have another glass of water and maybe a cup of tea, most often, black tea. And later I'd probably have another glass of water but not always. So by now you can probably see that I was drinking more coffee and tea than water.

Recently, I increased my water intake so that I constantly have a glass of water at my desk. And ever since we added a juicer to our appliance collection, a separate glass of juice (or smoothie) finds its way on my desk. And yes, I still have two cups of coffee in the morning and a cup of tea in the afternoon. The whole point of this description is so you understand how many different glasses and mugs I'm usually drinking out of, which is why I had to make a set of drink coasters just for my desk! Now having said that I wonder if I have a problem...anyone else find they have way too many drinking receptacles on their desk?

I wanted my drink coasters to look bright and fresh, like being at the beach or camping. I also wanted something simple and quick. I used cotton yarn (Bernat - Handicrafter Cotton in different colours) and size 4.50mm crochet hook. For the patterns I played around with different stitches and colour combos and came up with a couple of summerlicious crochet coasters designs:
