Santa Claus Mason Jar Cozy

I've been seeing a lot of cute coffee cup cozies, in particular this Santa coffee cup cozy on Frogging Along. I thought it was so cute and naturally felt inspired to make a crochet Santa Claus mason jar cozy!

Keep scrolling for the free pattern. You can also purchase the inexpensive and ad-free PDF version of the pattern in my shop and on Etsy.

What I love most is that these jar cozies are so quick to crochet and they make great last minute gifts.

Crochet Santa Claus Mason Jar Cozy Pattern

For this project I'm using my go-to mason jar cozy crochet pattern to make this cute beverage accessory, perfect for Christmas. I mentioned in a previous post that the 500ml mason jars are the perfect size for a tall (12oz) Starbucks peppermint mocha latte, or a hot chocolate with marshmallows! And if hot drinks aren't you're cup (or jar) of tea, this works wonderfully with cold beverages too.

Materials

-worsted weight yarn in red, white, and black. I used Bernat Super Value in Berry, Black, and White

-4.00mm crochet hook

-small piece of gold felt

-1 small black button

-gold embroidery thread and needle

Stitches used:

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

inc - increase

BLO - back loop only

Notes:

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, do not join or turn at the end of each round. Use stitch markers to keep track of beginning/end of each round. Color changes are made in the last yarn over or previous stitch and for this pattern I used a great color switch tutorial here on Oomanoot.

Starting with red yarn.

Round 1: make 6 sc in ring or ch 2 and make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

Round 2: inc in each st (12 sts)

Round 3: [sc in next st, inc in next st] repeat around (18 sts)

Round 4: [sc in next 2 sts, inc in next st] repeat around (24 sts)

Round 5: [sc in next 3 sts, inc in next st] repeat around (30 sts)

Round 6: [sc in next 4 sts, inc in next st] repeat around (36 sts)

Switch to white yarn.

Round 7: sc around in BLO.

Round 8: (in both loops again) sc around.

Switch to red yarn.

Rounds 9-10: sc around.

Switch to black yarn.

Rounds 11-12: sc around.

Switch to red yarn.

Rounds 13-15: sc around.

Switch to white yarn.

Rounds 16-17: sc around.

Fasten off and weave ends.

Make the belt buckle with a small square piece of felt and sew with matching thread. Sew small button above belt buckle.
