Crochet Solar System

Space, the final frontier! I've been working on this crochet wall art for some time and I'm so excited to finally share it with you. The idea for this solar system c2c wall art came from Jason, who is a big space nerd and a fan of corner to corner (c2c) crochet projects. He is the reason I've recently become inspired to make more c2c projects. It took me a few tries to get the hang of this technique but it's like a puzzle, and I love puzzles, so now I can't get enough of c2c. The best part is that all you need is a pixel or 8-bit graphic and you're good to go! The ideas and possibilities are endless.

Making the pixel graphic for this project required some google searches of the solar system in order to get the planet colors just right. Then I used the draw tool on https://www.pixilart.com/ to start drawing my solar system and before long I had a pretty decent representation of our planets. I had never made my own pixel art and now that I have I feel as though I've been bitten by a creative bug. I cannot wait to use this again for future c2c and tapestry crochet projects!

Below is the c2c crochet pixel graph I used to make my solar system. The finished dimensions turned out to be approximately 188cm x 38cm / 6'1" x 1'2". This now hangs above our bed and we love seeing it every time we walk into the bedroom.

I think this solar system c2c could also be used as a table runner, bedspread at the foot of the bed, draped over a couch, and maybe even used as a play mat for young astronomers!
