Mini Pumpkin Crochet Pattern

Suddenly the air is crisp, the leaves are turning orange, and PSLs (Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes) are in bloom. It's that period between Thanksgiving and Halloween when Canadians get outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and at Pops de Milk HQ we are not immune to this. In fact, we've decided October is our favourite month of the year! This week I want to share a free mini pumpkin crochet pattern. It is so cute I just can't even...

I'm using this little pumpkin as a key chain but you can use it any way you like. Maybe a necklace pendant? Earrings? You can make a whole bunch and place them in a bowl or dish to add some cute fall decor. Or how about to hang from a Halloween/autumn tree like the one I shared on Instructables?

The pattern I used is from a beginner crochet post I published a while back. It teaches the basics of crochet and specifically working in the round. The pattern is super easy but the size of the yarn and hook adds a little challenge.

For this project I used superfine (1) yarn - you guessed it, the same one I used for my September socks - and a size 12/2.50mm crochet hook. For the stem I used a bit of green embroidery floss.

For the pumpkin I followed the instructions for the mini pumpkin (found here) and the only change I made was to add a "work even" round between the last increase and the first decrease rounds. You can leave the pumpkin as is but I chose to add grooves as explained in the same post.

For the stem I made a chain of 11, slip stitched in the second chain and in each chain across. I then folded the stem in half to form a loop and sewed it to the pumpkin. To make it a key chain I added a ball bearing chain and I was done!
